Waterford Castle Island

Waterford Castle Hotel & Golf Resort, located 3 miles from Waterford City, is uniquely situated on a private 310-acre Island, surrounded by woodlands and an 18-hole championship golf course. The Island dates back to the 11th century, the Castle to the 16th. Once home to the Fitzgerald family and now privately owned, the hotel combines every modern comfort, service and convenience. Come to the water's edge and a boat will ferry you across the channel of centuries. Then you take the road through a tree-lined driveway, where a thousand years ago the first inhabitants cut out a rough track to secure the settlement. Waterford Castle is both retreat and refuge, sanctuary and seclusion.

Accommodation
The Castle's 19 guest rooms and suites are bright and airy with stunning views of the estate and have been recently restored to their former splendour. The Island Resort offers 45 family friendly modern, self-catering lodges. Each lodge sleeps six people with three and four double bedrooms.

Please note: Although guests have use of the resort facilities during their stay, on dates where there is a private function, such as a wedding, the hotel will be available to the wedding party only. Guests of the lodges may still avail of services provided by the King’s Channel Clubhouse.

Dining

Residents of the Island can choose from a variety of dining options, from treating themselves to the elegance of Castle Afternoon Tea, a memorable fine-dining experience in the luxurious Munster Room Restaurant. The Restaurant's seasonal menus place emphasis on both Irish specialities and the finest international cuisine.

The Clubhouse offers an informal casual dining menu that caters for all tastes - from light snacks to memorable evening meals, and family favorites such as pizza (also available to take-away). Specific dietary requirements such as vegetarians, vegans and gluten free can also be catered for.

Activities & daytrips

The Island Resort boasts an 18-hole, par 72 Championship Golf Course, accompanied by a driving range, short game area, Pro Shop and King’s Channel Clubhouse. The Clubhouse offers a range of informal dining options, from breakfast and dinner to family BBQ's in the summer. Whether you are a master at golf, a croquette enthusiast, a clay pigeon top-class shooter, a pro tennis player or a keen walker, the Island Resort offers a numerous range of breathtaking outdoor activities.

Waterford Castle also welcomes residents to dine at their sister property, One the Waterfront. This stunning beachside venue offers a spacious cliffside terrace and panoramic sea views in Tramore, just 20 minutes’ drive away.

Getting there
Fly into Cork or Dublin, two hours by bus or car to Waterford City. The Resort is an Island getaway that’s not so far away – centrally located just ten minutes’ drive from Waterford City. You can drive directly to or take a taxi across the Island Resort’s private car ferry over the King’s Channel.
