Thereupon we have received numerous requests from island lovers in China and we are organizing several island viewings worldwide.
Here is the interview Mr. Li gave to the Chinese magazine ZENITH:
Zenith Magazin: How did you hear about the possibility to sell islands and how did you hear that your island Gravel Island was on the market? Li: I discovered Vladi Private Islands in 2011 at a luxury real estate fair. Zenith Magazin: What were your reasons for buying an island? Li: Since I always loved the ocean, to own a private island was a childhood dream, which I was now able to fulfill. I feel alive and can take one step back into nature. When I look out onto the ocean, there are no limits to my dreams. I will be using the island primarily for myself but also can see its potential to appreciate in value.
Zenith Magazin: Was the purchase process of Gravel Island complicated? Li: No, thanks to Dr. Vladi’s years of experience in the business, the transaction ran smoothly and without any complications. Prices of islands are very reasonable and what is more, the legal regulations in Canada are very transparent. Foreigners may also hold “freehold land titles”. Zenith Magazin: How much money have you invested in Gravel Island to date and what follow-up investments are you planning? Li: I purchased Gravel Island for a price of 400,000 Canadian Dollars. I expect an apartment or house in Halifax and a mainland property will cost a further CAD 1.5 million to CAD 2 million. At a later date, I hope to invest CAD 3 million in state funds, in order to secure a permanent residence permit for my family.
Zenith Magazin: How would you like to improve your island Gravel Island? Li: The island is in good condition and there is an 80 sqm house with three rooms, kitchen and living room on the island already. I intend to buy a further property of around 100 acres on the mainland where I will build a villa, wharf, tennis court and golf course. Zenith Magazin: Why did you decide to buy an island in Canada? Li: The island itself and the surroundings have a lot of character and are located in an area much loved by tourists. The Indian Summer, proximity to the United States and the clear blue ocean with many sailing yachts all make Nova Scotia very attractive. Zenith Magazin: How will the purchase of Gravel Island change your life? Li: Halifax is a peaceful, beautiful and elegant city with a lot of potential. The city and the surrounding area are so appealing to us that we hope to immigrate to Halifax within the next few years.

As the world's leading emerging economy, the People’s Republic of China has experienced a remarkable increase in prosperity in the past two decades. This has promoted a property market boom and created a new wave of Chinese individuals who wish to invest their wealth overseas, particularly in real estate.
"If you follow the trends of the last 10 years, inevitably the Chinese will soon look to purchase private islands too" says Mr. Brinkschulte, "I have personally witnessed Chinese people's increasing desire for overseas property and am delighted to have the additional offering of private islands. Over the years, private islands have proven to be a very secure and lucrative investment - for some potential buyers, this reason alone will be enough".
