George's Island

George's Island is a picture-perfect image of the best that the Caribbean has to offer. The island encompasses long stretches of beautiful beaches, a mangrove-lined canal for kayaking, and an intimate and well-named little cove known as “Silencio”. Ivory sands and dreamily waving palm trees make up the island’s idyllic surface.

George's Island is located in the secluded Port Royal Bay, a mere five-minute boat ride from the Honduran island of Roatán. Famous for its proximity to the world’s second largest coral reef, these tropical waters boast unrivaled snorkeling and scuba diving just off its shores. The villa offers four bedrooms, each with its own private bath and both indoor and outdoor showers. Just outside are the sun deck, a rock-lined fresh water pool, a hammock terrace and a boat dock.

A number of boats are included in the sale, among them two sea kayaks and three speed boats. The island is fully self-contained, and as such is not connected to Roatán’s power, telephone or water supplies. There is a power generator and rainwater is collected in underground cisterns. George's Island has its own 1,200 ft runway.

There are bays and mangroves to explore, dozens of other islands nearby. One can go fishing or sailing in the bay, or diving and snorkeling among the fabulous coral reefs just east of the island. And then there is always the history of pirates, adventurers and buccaneers who haunted the area in the past. The ruins of a pirate fort and gunpowder depot are still to be found on George's Island.
