Voyages Heron Island is a true coral cay located right on the Great Barrier Reef. Here you can swim straight off the beach to an endless garden of coral where the waters are teeming with fish and marine life. Being located in a World Heritage Listed area, you can expect the outdoors to be number one on your to-do list.
It's what you don't see around Heron that makes the resort so special. You won't see any buildings above the treetops. And you won't bump into any day-trippers either. The reef experience on Heron is exclusively for guests, a unique experience few other resorts in the world offer. Heron Island is world famous for its fantastic scuba diving and snorkelling. Experience some of Australia's best dive spots – more than 30 dive sites are available, half of which are only 15 minutes from the beach.
An amazing array of animal life can be discovered throughout the year, such as the delightful Green and Loggerhead Turtles. Heron is renowned for its abundance of birdlife with dense Pisonia forests which are home to thousands of noddies and shearwaters. Here you soon sense that you are very much a guest of the natural environment; you're here to be part of it, to enjoy and to learn from it. First and foremost, Heron Island is a protected habitat for a stunning variety of wildlife.

From AUD 374 per person per night for the Turtle Room to AUD 998 per person per night for the Beach House.

Location:
Covering 18 hectares, Heron Island lies on the Tropic of Capricorn (23 degrees south of the equator), 72 kilometers NE of the coast of Gladstone, central Queensland. Heron Island operates one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time all year round.

Accommodation:
Located beachside and set within a grove of trees, the Beach House offers filtered ocean views, and a private boardwalk provides direct access to the beach. With only one Beach House on offer, this accommodation provides maximum privacy and is located a short stroll away from the central resort facilities and restaurant.
The Beach House is air-conditioned and features a separate bedroom, with spacious en suite including a bath and shower. An expansive living area features an oversized sofa and work desk and opens onto a private patio with outdoor furniture and outdoor shower. Other room features include a mini-bar, CD player, STD/IDD telephone.

Further accommodation is provided in Point, Wistari and Heron Beachside Suites, offering views over the Great Barrier Reef and magical sunsets. Suites are within easy access of the resort amenities. They are spacious and include en suites and generous living areas, all air-conditioned and with a range of in-room comforts including a mini-bar, a CD player and phone.
Reef and Turtle Rooms are located close to the beach or in garden settings. Reef Rooms living areas extend outdoors to balconies or garden settings, interiors are light and comfortable. Turtle Rooms are at ground level and feature a deck and outdoor area, situated only a short walk away from the beach and close to the central resort facilities.
Family room configurations are available for both categories.

Activities:
Complimentary activities include: guided reef walks (operate daily, subject to tides), island ecology walks, guided birdlife walks, stargazing, wildlife presentations, snorkelling lessons in swimming pool, tennis (night & day) & table tennis, natural history slide show, trivia night.
Other activities (where charges apply) include: snorkelling excursions to the reef edge, Junior Ranger Program (children 7 to 12 years), semi-submersible coral viewing cruises (commentary by reef interpreter), pool tables, diving tours, activities and classes, scenic helicopter flights, sunset wine & cheese cruises (adults 18+ only), beach picnic hampers, spa treatment at the Aqua Soul Spa, turtle tour (peak nesting times December–April).
Please note: Some activities, including diving and snorkelling, are subject to weather conditions and wildlife restrictions. Diving is suitable for children 14 years and over. If certified, children can dive from the age of 10, however they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Spa:
After a day of island exploration, pay a visit to the Aqua Soul Spa, where you can relax and rejuvenate in delightful surroundings while experiencing a treatment.

Dining:
Shearwater Restaurant
Breakfast and lunch are buffet style while dinner features a 3 course table d'hôte and Tuesday night Aussie BBQ buffet at Baillie's Bar. The restaurant is open for breakfast from 7.30–9.30 am, lunch is served from 12.30–2.30 pm & dinner is served 6.30–9.00 pm. Special diets can be catered for by prior arrangement.
A picnic hamper service is available on request.

Pandanus Lounge & Baillie's Bar
The Bar & Lounge features panoramic reef views, with a cocktail bar, entertainment lounge, dance floor and a mezzanine level library area. The Bar & Lounge opens to an outdoor terrace. Open from 10.00 am to midnight.

Heron Island Meal Package
Full buffet breakfast is included at Heron Island, so make your holiday even more relaxing by booking the value packed meal package when you confirm your booking. The meal package includes lunch and dinner, and is available for one day or every day of your stay.

Best time to travel:
The best time to travel to Heron Island is during the winter months (June–September) when the weather is warm going on hot, but the humidity is far lower than it is for the rest of the year.

Getting there:
Regular flights are available from Australian capital cities to Gladstone with Qantas. Boat transfer from Gladstone to Heron Island takes approx. 2 hours. Alternatively, Australian Helicopters operates scenic transfers between Gladstone Airport and Heron Island daily (excluding Christmas Day) on demand during daylight hours (generally 0800–1800). Transfer Time is approx. 30 mins.
