Inish Turk Beg is located just off the west coast of Ireland, within the protected waters of Clew Bay. The retreat forms one of just a handful of private islands located within the Wild Atlantic Way and promises unspoilt, tranquil beauty and incredible views of the ocean. The fishing villages of Newport and Westport are just 20 and 30 minutes away respectively.
Towards the east of the island, the Pavilion (EUR 800/night) offers light and airy accommodation for up to six people and promises spectacular views over the Marina and onto Clew Bay. The accommodation includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an expansive open-plan kitchen and a large living area. The living area opens out on to a grandiose decking area, which forms home to the best of the views.
The Pier (EUR 1,000/night) also forms a wonderful base – particularly for larger groups. Capable of sleeping up to 12 guests across a king suite, two twin beds, two double rooms and a king room, this charming, traditional Irish home also forms home to two large family bathrooms, a kitchen, a lounge (resplendent with a log-burning stove), a dining room and a utility room which comes with its own washing machine.
Meanwhile, the smaller Yard Cottage (EUR 300/night) comprises two cosy bedrooms (featuring a double and a bunk-bed), a bathroom and a large, open-plan living area and kitchen.
Inish Turk Beg is home to a full complement of exciting activities, as well as an endless array of excursion opportunities, including to the Great Western Greenway, once voted one of the world’s top 3 cycling trails; a host of challenging golf courses; angling adventures out at sea and even equestrian activities, including guided horse rides through the wonderful scenery of Clew Bay. On the island itself, guests can choose to either take it easy in the heated infinity pool or pump iron in the gym. A multi-use games compound is also available, with an Astroturf surface for basketball, five-a-side football and tennis. Kayaking tours, paddle boarding, fishing and island hopping tours are also available. How to Get There
The closest airport to the island is Ireland West Airport, located some 60 km (37 miles) away, in the town of Knock. Alternatively, international guests may prefer to fly in to either Shannon or Dublin Airport – each of which are a three-hour drive away. From the airport, guests should drive to the pier at Westport Town, where they will be greeted by a member of the Inish Turk Beg team before making the final transfer across to the island. Helicopter transfers are also possible. Simply contact Vladi Island Travel for more details.Best Time to Travel
Inish Turk Beg welcomes guests between April and October. For the very best of the weather, July and August promise the most hours of sunshine. As the weather on Ireland’s West Coast can often prove to be unpredictable, however, we always recommend taking a rain jacket!
