Amangani (which means “peaceful home”) opened in 1998; it was Amanresorts' first North American property. Nearly 7,000 feet above sea level, the resort overlooks meadows and grasslands. Across the valley is the Teton Pass, which divides the Snake River Range from the snow-capped Tetons. The snow-fed waters of the Snake River gather in the Yellowstone Plateau and wind south through Jackson Hole (the word “hole” was once used to describe high mountain valleys).

Best time to travel
Spring, from late April to June, is marked by mild days and cold nights, with some rain and occasional snow. It is in spring that newborn elk, moose, bison and bears start appearing. Summers offer warm days and cool nights and a profusion of brightly colored wildflowers. In autumn, the aspen and cottonwood run gold and red. The days are sunny, with cold nights. Winter brings enough deep snow to keep a skier happy well into April. It also brings elk to the valley, as they come down from the mountains by the thousands to the National Elk Refuge at the edge of town.

Getting there
Fly to Jackson Hole Airport, then drive less than 20 minutes to Amangani by complimentary transfer.
