Deer Island

New York State | USA

Bircholm is a classic and historic Adirondack Great Camp located on Deer Island on the most desirable portion of Upper Saranac Lake. This picturesque compound of shingled buildings are nestled among towering white pine trees. A true generational asset that was first constructed in 1887 and has been in the same family since 1916. The compound has a separate Dining House and includes 13 bedrooms scattered in a collection of buildings connected by paths and covered walkways. The main boathouse is a classic structure with a billiards room and fireplace above the slips.

The island is easily accessible from a mainland boathouse that is shared with another family. Bircholm is situated on the south shoreline of Deer Island and is part of the 50.3 acres of ownership. The island is characterized by gentle terrain within a magnificent mature forest. There is a walking trail around the perimeter and a lean-to and small cabin on the eastern end of the island. All but the 8.7 acres associated with the camp compound are protected under a conservation easement.
