Best time to travel
Scotland is often windy, misty and chilly, so be prepared: take a windbreaker and clothing that can be layered. The east coast can be drier and cooler than the west, but the weather everywhere is variable, changing by the mile and the minute, as well as by the altitude. The best time to go is April to September. The days are long in midsummer, especially in the north where it stays light almost to midnight. Many tourist attractions : castles, museums and the like : are closed in the winter and open only for limited viewing hours in the autumn and spring.

Getting there
60 minutes drive from Edinburgh International Airport, 20 minutes from Perth, 75 minutes from Inverness. There is also an excellent air service between London and Dundee, which is only 18 miles away.
