Location
Desroches forms part of the Amirantes group of islands (a remote coral atoll), 230km south-west of Mahé in the Seychelles. Strewn with coconut trees, Desroches Island is approximately 6 km long, 1 km wide and boasts 14km of immaculate, white soft sandy beaches and crystal blue waters. This exclusive island is one of the most beautiful in the Indian Ocean. Located only 5˚ south of the equator Desroches is blessed with one of the world’s healthiest, malaria -free climates. Desroches is 10 hrs from London, 9 hrs from Paris, 8 hrs from Italy, 5 hrs from Johannesburg or Doha (Qatar) and 4 hrs from Dubai.

The island has only one luxurious resort with 20 Beach Suites, 26 Villas and 8 Retreats for guests to enjoy, all with sea-views and just a few steps from the beach.
Dining
Experience decadent flavours from around the world and traditional seafood barbeques at Le Ve Loutier Restaurant. Relax under the trees at the Pizzeria for scrumptious lunches all complemented with an extensive international beverage and wine list. Immerse yourself in true traditional Creole flavours at the Creole Restaurant, situated in the original Creole village.

Explore the 14 classified sites scuba diving sites, including the mysterious underwater caves and columns. PADI diving courses (in English or French) are offered at the hotels dive centre. Guided snorkeling trips offer the opportunity of viewing turtles gliding between shoals of multicoloured fish.
Desroches offers outstanding big game fishing with hard-fighting adversaries such as Wahoo, Kingfish, Tuna, Sailfish, Marlin, Dorado and Bonefish. Some of the best fly fishing in the world can be enjoyed on the outer islands, with an abundance of Bone-fish, Permit and Trevally species to target on fly; while you simply get ‘lost’ in the utter beauty of the extensive shoreline surroundings.
Visit the neighbouring islands of Poivre and St Josephs, on day trips which allow you to explore the outer islands of the Amirantes Archipelago. This features some of the most pristine, untouched islands in the world, only between 45mins to 75mins away from Desroches.

Best time to travel
Even though there are only small climatic differences during the year, two different seasons are generally referred to: from November to March it is warm with a lot of rain and high humidity. Typical rainy days on the Seychelles are interrupted by long sunny sections. The wind blows from northwest (northwest monsoon). From May to September the temperature is slightly cooler since the wind blows from the southeast (southeast monsoon). The driest period is between June and August. In April and October the temperature is relatively hot, there is little wind and the sea is mostly calm.
