Little Palm Island

Little Palm Island is a hidden treasure in the Florida Keys, only accessible by boat or seaplane. US President Franklin Roosevelt liked to relax here. With names like Osprey, Snowy Egret, and Ibis, the 30 thatched-roof Bungalow suites and two Island Grand suites offer the ultimate privacy with interior decor inspired by nature. Discreetly placed throughout the island amid hundreds of Jamaican coconut palm trees, each bungalow houses two handsomely-appointed, one-bedroom suites with private sun decks and ocean views. All bungalows feature a comfortable living room and an expansive bedroom with a king-size bed as well as a sitting area furnished with exquisite British colonial pieces. A separate dressing area and bath complete with whirlpool made for two lead directly to the bamboo-fenced, private outdoor shower. There are no telephones, televisions nor alarm clocks in the rooms. However, a computer modem is available for those who need to "link up."

From the moment you awake until you retire, Little Palm's Dining Room tempts you with classic European preparations fused with fresh Floridian, Caribbean and pan-Asian flavours. Savour meals in an elegant, candle-lit dining room, on a terrace perched above the sea, or at tables strewn along the beach.

Best time to travel

The most popular time to come here is between December and May, when temperatures average between 60-85° F (16-30° C), and average rainfall is a scant couple of inches. Summer can be summed up as very hot and humid with thunderstorms.

Getting there

From Miami International Airport 2 hours’ drive by rental car (limousine service available). Marathon is the nearest local airport.
