Location

Orpheus Island is a true Great Barrier Reef island, located 80 kilometres (50 miles) north of Townsville and 190 kilometres (120 miles) south of Cairns and is 24 kilometres (15 miles) offshore. Orpheus Island stretches for 11 kilometres (7 miles) and comprises of 1,368 hectares of pristine National Park.

Accommodation

All 21 rooms are on the beach front and feature en suite bathrooms, with personal spa. They are fully air-conditioned with ceiling fans, hairdryer, CD-player, mini-bar, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities The Orpheus Retreat rooms (17) are in studio style and come complete with their own private patio and personal spa.

The Nautilus Suites (4) are very spacious offering a huge private patio, separate lounge and bedroom area and personal spa.

Dining

Our award winning restaurant caters to the gourmet lover, offering a breakfast à la carte, al fresco courtyard lunches, gourmet picnic hampers, and finally every evening a seven course degustation menu.
Our chef prepares a new menu daily which is sure to take your taste buds on a gastronomic tour. All meals are included in your daily tariff as below: - breakfast à la carte - al fresco lunches in the courtyard or gourmet picnic hamper on your own private beach - seven course degustation menu prepared every evening - tea and coffee and selection of biscuits available in quiet lounge at all times.

Activities

Complimentary: Motorised dinghies, catamarans, light fishing gear, paddle skis, local snorkel trips including equipment, self guided and guided walks through national park, day and night tennis (equipment provided)

Charges apply: Scuba diving, game fishing, outer reef trips, seaplane charters, adventure interpretive snorkel, dining with the tides, sunset cruise, Cruise on Orpheus (32' catamaran).

Getting there

Flight to Townsville or Cairns. Transfer from Townsville to Orpheus 30 minutes (AUD 450 return), transfer from Cairns to Orpheus 60 minutes (AUD 780 return).
