Thirty five years ago, when I first set out with my island business, I was very active in the Seychelles, having sold many islands and atolls there, many of which are still owned and very much appreciated by the same clients.
At that time, Sir James Mancham, was active as a lawyer in a number of these island sales transactions. A long-lasting friendship between us transpired. Some years later, Sir Mancham went on to become the first President of the Seychelles from 1976-1977. He has just released a new book, which is a reflection on his remarkable career, entitled “Seychelles Global Citizen: The autobiography of the founding President”. It was recently reviewed and highlighted in the Washington Times under the heading “A Man for all Regions”.
This autobiography is an immensely interesting read and we at Vladi Private Islands are very honoured and privileged to be mentioned in it as his friends. Included in this book is a photo of Sir James and I, Farhad Vladi, along with HRH Prince Charles at an event hosted by the Prince in London. (See Page 169).
Sir James Mancham’s inspiring autobiography details the intriguing life of a young lawyer who became a chief minister and then went on to become President, opposition leader and the voice of many smaller countries on this planet. Sir Mancham is also a member of the World Future Council (www.worldfuturecouncil.org) and is involved in many other worthy causes.
We invite our friends, in particular island lovers, to acquire a copy of this book, as it demonstrates the importance of stability and sustainability of the environment in which islands are located.
