"Casa Omar Sharif", probably the most impressive private resort on the island of Lanzarote, was built into the rocks at the quarry of Nazaret.
The restaurant/bar/museum Lagomar is nestled in its fascinating stone gardens and caves, serving as a perfect example of the harmonious integration of architecture into this overwhelming landscape. The place was created with a visionary style in the 1970s when famous Cesar Manrique invented the Casa Omar Sharif for the actor who was just then shooting the film "La Isla Misteriosa". Legend has it he lost his property in a documented bridge tournament!
In the 1990s, the resort was developed by international architects on the property which is approx. 7.000 sqm. Here, you can find the renowned restaurant "LagOmar" (with 50 seats inside, situated next to the crater lake with wonderful terraces, and the cave bar "Bar La Cueva" with its numerous additional caves, enchanted paths, water tunnels and mystic places for up to 300 guests).
Additionally, there is the little "museo" with its changing exhibitions, built into the rock face, and the recent bigger "museo" in the "Casa Omar Sharif", which can be reached following the long paths and steep stairs. At the top of the stairs above the resort is a "Mirador" panorama terrace, with a breathtaking view over half the island.
Here, you can also find the two "casitas", as well as the pool embedded into the rock, featuring a wonderful terrace and barbecue. These fantastic rock gardens and Lagomar set the stage for a unique open-air museum, presenting various cultural activities. Alternating exhibitions of renowned painters and sculptors, open-air concerts ( amphitheatre ) in an unforgettable moonlight atmosphere at the crater lake, charity art exhibitions, talk shows with well-known writers and artists, fashion shows and fashion shoots for magazines – to name a few of the numerous possibilities.
These different events make Lagomar a sought-after meeting point for artists, writers and musicians, with live concerts taking place at the big cave bar: "La Cuelva".
At the opposite part of the resort you can find two tennis courts as well as a property of approx. 1,800 sqm, suitable for commercial purposes, which would be very suitable for an annex building (conventions, events) or a small luxury hotel or wellness area, also with a wonderful view.
Easy to reach from all tourist centres, Lagomar is situated in the centre of the island in the well-known town of Nazaret. Renowned for its luxury villas, Nazaret is nestled in the massive lava rocks with a gorgeous view over the crater landscape to the sea.
