Undeveloped private island with idyllic coves, pocket beaches and a variety of wildlife

Sheep Island is a pristine, uninhabited island in West Penobscot Bay with spectacular views in all directions. The island’s name and its rich soil are a testament to its agricultural heritage; it was used for farming in the 1800s (at one point there was a house and a barn although no evidence of these historic structures remains) and there is evidence of pre-Colonial activity. Today the undeveloped island is a refuge for a variety of wildlife and the landscape is mostly forest with dramatic bluffs, interesting ledge, idyllic coves and pocket beaches.
