The Castle near Fota Island is a historic landmark property located on about a quarter of an acre with panoramic views of the Estuary and Belvelly Bridge, County Cork. The bridge was built on the site of an old ford. Planning Permission has been granted to restore the Castle. Close by is Belvelly village, right at the bridge linking Cobh Island to the mainland.
The Castle is situated on the waters edge and has a boatslip on to the Estuary. Dating from the 13th century, this is a fine example of a Medieval Fortified Tower House, rising to just over 80’ in height, visible still are the battlements, he mullioned windows, the murder hole, spiral stone staircase and old recesses and rooms.
