Isla de Espalmador

Spain | Europe: Mediterranean

Espalmador is a Balearic island of 137 hectares that lies between Ibiza and Formentera, in the Las Salines Natural Park.
With its white beaches, Mediterranean landscapes, picturesque coves, and crystal clear waters, Espalmador is a paradise within Europe.

The Balearic Islands are a Spanish archipelago near the western Mediterranean coast of the Iberian Peninsula. The four largest islands are Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Within the Balearics, Ibiza, Formentera, and Espalmador are
known as the Pitiusas, or Pine Islands.
The Pitiusas are famed for their abundant, year-round sunshine, wonderful beaches, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality.
Easy to reach in Europe, and close to both Ibiza and Formentera, Espalmador has a remarkable location that few other private islands of this caliber can match.

Sheltering just off the south coast of Ibiza, Espalmador is both protected from the open sea, and close to some of the world’s most fashionable hot spots on the south side of Ibiza.
It’s easy to enjoy the best of Ibiza from Espalmador, for example the happening beach clubs on Ibiza’s Ses Salines beach, a short boat ride away, or the night clubs in Ibiza town.

And after the buzz of Ibiza, Espalmador is the perfect sanctuary to retreat to, somewhere to get away from it all and unwind in beautiful surroundings, with zero stress. Immediately to the south of Espalmador is the Illetas promontory of Formentera, home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe.

There are currently two houses on the island, plus a chapel, a watchtower, and additional outbuildings. The houses are all built on private land, but the watchtower lies on public land, due to Spain’s coastal law, which also affects other parts of the island.
