High Island is a magnificent property located in the Muscle Ridge archipelago, between Penobscot and Muscongus Bays. Granite wharves, a freshwater swimming quarry, and heirloom apple trees and stone foundations scattered around the property are all a testament to the island's role in Maine's granite quarrying industry at the turn of the 20th century. Today, the 26±-acre island is again covered in spruce woods and has approximately one mile of beautiful shorefront with spectacular views in all directions. The property includes a convenient mainland base with parking, storage, mooring, and dock access on Spruce Head Island.

The Muscle Ridge Channel is well known to boaters, who appreciate the archipelago's summer anchorages and unspoiled beauty. The small islands are dotted with a number of attractive and understated homes, the retreats of summer residents who cherish the area's privacy and seclusion. While it offers a tremendous sense of solitude, the Muscle Ridge archipelago is easily accessed from the mainland and is a relatively short trip from Owls Head, Spruce Head, Rockland, Thomaston, or Tenants Harbor.
