Location
Yuulong is located at the midpoint of the Great Ocean Road in coastal Victoria, Australia, rising up from the Southern Ocean in total harmony with nature.

Accommodation
The lodge is hidden amongst tracts of mature Eucalyptus which make up the Australian bush. Matchless Australian hospitality is provided for up to eight people to enjoy immaculate service and hedonistic levels of comfort. Banal concepts such as check-in simply do not exist in this fairy-tale world. Set against a backdrop of the ocean and the many greens that make up the Australian bush, the luxury lodges of some 260 sq.m. at Moonlight Head have been designed by the Australian Architect Glenn Murcutt, acclaimed recipient of the Pritzker Prize, with Wendy Lewin. The lodge is remote, set in over forty hectares of Australian bush and farmland. The ambience filling each room is created by modern pieces of furniture, antique Persian rugs thrown over blue stone floors and complete with original art by Karl Maughan. By night, from the luxury of your Savoir bed (over 7 by 7 foot in size), gaze upon the Southern night sky’s twinkling stars through the glass ceilings of the saw-toothed roof. By day, the ambience filling each room is created from an abundance of sunshine spread throughout the Private Lodge, highlighting modern European chic and furniture from B&B Italia, Cassina, Poltrona Frau and Savoir beds all complemented with lighting from Artemide. This is all set against perfect white walls that spread the abundance of sunshine and moonlight throughout the lodge. Fabulous bathrooms are equipped with the softest of towels from Descamps and a selection of Jo Malone, Ren or Malin + Goetz goodies complement an oversized bath to soak in, whilst gazing towards the southern night sky.

Dining
The cuisine at Moonlight Head is led by your needs. Our chef focuses on creating a dining experience to tempt the most mature to the youngest of family palates. Your dining experience, should you wish, is complemented by an exquisite selection of wines from Australia and New Zealand. Breakfast and pre-supper snacks will be accompanied by glimpses of kangaroos, parakeets, and kookaburras against the backdrop of spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Our expert chefs will go to any lengths to provide you with the perfect meal. Whether your requirement is for the finest Australian steak, fresh seafood or for a tasty salad, everything is available and can all be complemented with your choice from our hand picked selection of local and international wines.

Later in the evening you can adjourn to the formal living area, where we will prepare the drink of your choice and tales of the day's adventures can be recounted as the delicate bite of fulfilment and exhaustion make their pleasurable presence felt.

Activities
The team at Moonlight seek to service you at your pace. Active days, hiking the Great Ocean Walk, fishing on a private lake, playing a round of golf, horseback riding through the bush, riding a Ducati along the Great Ocean road or exploring the historic wilderness on a mountain bike are some of the experiences offered. Though if it is just sitting in with a good book or movie, hiding from the world, then we are experts helping you with your selection. For those guests under 15, Moonlight Head aims to please: be it from providing scooters to x-boxes or the latest book by J.K. Rowling. There is fishing, golf, scenic tours by helicopter or car, hikes for every level of fitness, bike rides, bird watching, whale watching, wreck dives, winery tours, fossil hunting, historic towns … and if all that is not enough you can always take out a BMW or Ducati motorbike, or a classic car such as a Mercedes coupé to explore your freedom out on the Great Ocean Road. If you want to relax by the ocean, Wreck Beach is close by, where at low tide you can see the anchors of the shipwrecked Fiji and Marie Gabrielle which are just 2 of the 300 plus shipwrecks along this coastline.

Best Time to Travel
You may choose the best time for Moonlight Head depending on your preferred activities. Because in Australia the seasons are opposite to those in Europe, the European winter months would be the best time to enjoy the beach and warm weather. Spring and autumn are preferred by those enjoying outdoor activities.

Getting there
Flights to Melbourne are operated by many established airlines from where it is just a 3 hour drive to Moonlight Head. Just follow Princes Highway and turn off at Colac towards Lavers Hill. Soon you will arrive at our wonderful retreat, but do enjoy the drive along the wonderful Great Ocean Road …
