Each visitor, who walks over the bridge crossing the small river just before our vineyard and olive grove at Creekside, seem to gasp in awe at the sight of the magnificent garden – its peaceful tranquillity, vastness and lush fruit and magnolia trees earns it the compliment of also being known as a park. The serenity of the well manicured grounds, strolls among the grapevines, rosebushes and olive trees, the pleasure of fresh fruits such as apricots and oranges and the diverse range of excursions on offer are often reasons why travellers end up staying at Creekside longer than initially planned. The property acts as an ideal location for relaxation either prior to or after a New Zealand round trip or indeed as a highlight during a week stay on Forsyth Island or Pohuenui Island in the Marlborough Sounds. It is situated in the small town of Blenheim in the Marlborough region, the most significant and sunniest wine region in New Zealand – about 30 vineyards here produce a variety of wines and welcome guests to come along and sample their range – particularly popular are the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Well worth visiting is the Marlborough Food & Wine Festival in February.

Rates
The entire vineyard is available exclusively to you and your family or friends (6 persons) for NZD 750 per night (excl. taxes; incl. breakfast).
Alternatively, choose a double room for NZD 250 per night (excl. taxes; incl. breakfast).

Our tip
Combine a few relaxing days on Creekside with a stay in the Marlborough Sounds on Pohuenui Island or Forsyth Island, which are both under the same friendly management as Creekside. We are happy to organise your stay and transit.

Blenheim, 70 km south east of Nelson, in the north east of the South Island of New Zealand.

Several restaurants in the locality, ranging from good to excellent, invite you to experience a variety of flavours and tastes and to get to know the very hospitable locals.

Activities
Wine tasting tours in and around Blenheim are highly recommended. The Marlborough region offers a variety of free time activities: swimming with dolphins in the Marlborough Sounds, whale watching, fishing, waterskiing and kayak tours, walking tours in national parks, and relaxing days on the several beaches. Experience the Maori culture, New Zealand’s original inhabitants, and savour the cultural diversity of the cities. Just a short trip away is the Monahan family’s wonderful gardens known as “Upton Oaks”. These impeccable Old English-style and award-winning gardens have often graced the pages of numerous lifestyle magazines. After a guided tour through the garden, Sue Monahan invites you to enjoy tea at her Victorian villa.

Best time to travel
The microclimate of the Marlborough region makes it worth a journey all year round. Peak season for New Zealand is from November to March. Winter there is from May until the end of September, during which time rainfall and wind are common.

How to get there
Flight to Wellington, further flight (20 minutes) to Blenheim. Blenheim is located at the northern section of the South Island. The Main Trunk Railway runs from Picton to Christchurch – the long distance passenger train TranzCoastal stops here daily. Blenheim is linked to the network of trunk roads via the State Highways 1 and 6.
