Location
Situated on the Pacific coast of Panama, Isla Porcada can be found tucked within the away in the Chiriqui Province, close to the city of David.
Accommodation
The accommodation on Isla Porcada consists of a large house and four modest bungalows – each of which has space for two guests. Decorated in a style that may well best be described as “rustic chic”, Porcada is the perfect destination for travelers who want to experience the world first hand and who are looking for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure set amongst some of Central America’s most majestic natural scenery.
Dining
All mealtimes and drinks are included within the rental price. Whether you choose to dine alone beneath a star-lit sky or enjoy a more social evening meal, you’ll be well catered for on Porcada. The so-called workers’ house is home to an open fire – perfect for cooking up a storm and ideal for anglers keen to taste their catch of the day.
Whether you choose to live life like the gauchos and try your hand at rounding up the island’s 400 cattle, or enjoy the feeling of the wind in your hair whilst riding on horseback across sweeping golden sands, you’re guaranteed to have a great time. Sixteen horses roam around the island’s many acres, with beach side horse-riding proving to be an increasingly popular activity amongst guests. Intrepid explorers are also advised to explore the islands tracks, hiking up the to the Porcada’s highest peak for spectacular views of the seven surrounding islands. Boat trips and fishing trips also prove a popular way to get to know the spectacular surroundings. A little further afield, guests will also find a popular surf school and a fishing lodge which offers access to some of the best salt water sport fishing regions around!
How To Get There
Guests have the option of flying into San Jose (Costa Rica), David City (Enrique Malek Airport) or even Panama City itself. They will then be collected by a representative of Porcada and accompanied to the harbor in a minibus (approx. 80 km) before taking a 20 minute boat trip to the island itself. Best Time To Travel
Over the course of the year, the temperature on Isla Porcada typically varies from 23°C to 34°C. The weather is at its best during the so-called dry season, which stretches out between the months of December and April. Due to the region’s tropical climate, however, rain may well form a feature of your vacation, with precipitation levels peaking between June and September.
