Since opening in December 2013, Velaa Private Island has made a considerable impact within the competitive local market, the realization of one man’s quest to establish a truly exceptional island resort in the Maldives. A popular choice amongst the jet-set elite, Velaa is a perfect combination of privacy and luxury – an ultra-exclusive boutique hideaway, set within sensational scenery which has to be seen to be believed.

Located just a 45-minute seaplane flight north of the Maldivian capital of Malé, Velaa Island is tucked within the cerulean waters of the Noonu Atoll – an unspoiled island chain famed for its powder-white beaches and sensational scenery.
Rates
Prices start from USD 1600 per night, based on two guests sharing the Beach Pool Villa in the low season, plus a 10% service charge and a 12% tourism goods and service charge. Accommodation
Velaa Private Island comprises 43 sumptuous villas, houses and residences as well as two palatial four-bedroom residences. 18 villas are built over water, including the Romantic Pool Residence, a haven of privacy and exclusivity, which can only be reached by boat. Amongst the most sumptuous of the island’s accommodation options is the Velaa Private Residence, a four bedroom villa capable of accommodating up to 10 guests. Spread over 1,350 square metres of private interior and exterior space (inclusive of two terraces, a pool and a courtyard) the residence consists of four spacious, ocean-facing villas, a generous living space, a gym, a spa and an array of relaxing outdoor spaces. In short, it’s everything you need and more in order to enjoy the truly indulgent island retreat you deserve.
Dining
Gastronomes will be in seventh heaven thanks to the Michelin star cuisine and one of the finest wine cellars in the Indian Ocean archipelago. With three restaurants, two bars and a wine cellar, Velaa Private Island offers an unforgettable culinary journey which takes in a fusion of flavours – from tender Teppanyaki to inspiring Italian dishes and beyond onto other more exotic culinary creations. The teppanyaki grill (situated atop a 37 ft. tower) is a particular highlight and the waterside Aragu restaurant doesn’t disappoint either. Overseen by high-flying chefs Gaushan de Silva and Adeline Grattard respectively, many believe that it’s only a matter of time before the island wins a Michelin Star of its own.
