Location
Located 65 miles from Mahé, Bird Island forms the northernmost island in the Seychelles archipelago. Remote and unspoiled, the island is the perfect antidote to the stresses of modern life.

Accommodation
The island now features 6 two-bedroom villas and 1 three-bedroom villa, in line with our move to become a self-catering establishment. Each villa comprises of a newly built private kitchen-bar-lounge set on the grounds to the front of the bedrooms (existing chalets). This has created over 1200 sqm of private space for guests to enjoy. The design of these new additions feature the same characteristics as the bedrooms, which remain as before – an open layout, wooden beams and minimal furnishings, reflecting our values of remaining simple, authentic and being immersed in nature..

Catering options for our guests range from a shop where the necessities for one’s stay may be purchased, a sandwich and salad order service throughout the day, tasting local flavours in-villa and a restaurant for evening dining.

The restaurant is open in the evenings, offering a range of light a la carte meals (not included in the room rate). For a taste of local flavours in the comfort of your villa, have a chat with our Villa Manager.

Activities
Nature Trails and Guided Nature Walks
Share our enthusiasm for our beautiful Island home as you explore the nature trails. Set off on your own path or book a guided nature walk. Learn all about the flora and fauna - the nesting and courting habits of the birds, the Hawksbill turtles that visit between October and February and the thousands of hatchlings that race for the sea from December to March. We never fall short of interesting stories to tell about the birds, turtles and tortoises.

Bird Watching
Bird Island can really be regarded as a huge bird sanctuary and is more widely known for its Sooty Tern colony. Many other birds also call this coralline island home. Throughout the year there are at least 20 species of birds that can be seen at any one time, making bird watching and wildlife photography a real pleasure. Spot these feathery creatures as you wander the natural trails or on a guided nature tour.

Tortoise and Turtle Spotting
There are 22 free roaming Giant Land Tortoises on Bird Island. Spot these amazing creatures while exploring the island. Better yet, try spotting the sea turtles. We are actively involved in measuring, tagging and recording turtle statistics, as well as monitoring and protecting their nesting sites, which is critical to the survival of these endangered species. Join our conservation officer in tracking sea turtles and their nests. Observe these creatures come ashore to nest and the amazing little hatchlings as they begin their journey into the world - a sight that will remain with you forever.

Snorkeling
The east and south sides of Bird Island are surrounded by a protective barrier reef which is home to varieties of colourful tropical marine life. This makes for a great snorkeling experience. (For sanitary reasons we ask that guests bring their own mask and snorkel along. Fins are available for rent.)

Kayaking
For a little fun or some light exercise we offer our two-person kayak; perfect for a slow paddle across the bay or a determined circum-navigation. Kayaking is a fantastic way of getting close to the marine life in our surrounding waters and also allows you to enjoy Bird Island’s beautiful coastline.
