Accommodation
The island is home to five traditional bandas – charming thatched bungalows typical of Zanzibar. Each of the bandas is split into two ensuite rooms which share a terrace with breathtaking views of the ocean. Boasting airy double-height ceilings, strong wooden beams and brightly-coloured traditional fabrics, the décor of the island’s accommodation is a celebration of the local culture.

The bedrooms are home to traditional Zanzibari four-posters – a spacious double canopy bed, draped with elegant netting and adorned with freshly plucked hibiscus petals. All the rooms are light and airy, with a ceiling fan on hand to ensure you keep your cool at all times. Each room comes with a spacious bathroom, made up of a basin, open-plan shower and a separate WC.

Beyond the bungalows, guests will find a shared wooden terrace, which leads on to a thatched parasol with your own personal sun loungers. With the sea is so close that it practically laps at your terrace, it’s the perfect place to unwind and watch the sun set over a cocktail.

For an extra special occasion, the Sunset Villa is a must. The latest edition at Chapwani Private Island Resort comprises a double bedroom suite with living room, two bathrooms (one of which contains a decadent bathtub), a private terrace, a plunge pool and even a private stretch of beach. Whether as the ultimate honeymoon getaway or as a fun-filled family room, this perfect private island dwelling certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Of all the succulent seafood on offer, the baked crab – served in its own shell and accompanied with a delicate salad – and the spicy fish curry counted amongst the culinary highlights on offer. The breathtaking setting of the dining area only serves to further highlight the quality of the food. There’s nothing like a stunning sea view to get the taste buds tingling…
