Location
Nukubati (pronounced "nook-oom bah-tee") is a private island situated inside the Great Sea Reef, off the north coast of Vanua Levu in the Fiji Islands. The nearest town is Labasa.

Accommodation
With only seven bures and suites, designed for couples, Nukubati is very private and very exclusive. You share the island with no more than six other couples. The bures and suites are sited along the western shoreline, just meters from the beach, affording you a full view of Nukubati's spectacular sunsets. Traditionally designed, the rooms are louvred, light and airy, and are decorated in an elegant and comfortable style focusing on the simple creature comforts of a comfortable bed, cotton linen, soft bathtowels and spacious bathroom. These rooms are situated to take advantage of the cool sea breezes and, in keeping with Nukubati's carbon neutral manifesto, are not air conditioned.

Dining
Nukubati is famous for its food. Very fresh seafood is the speciality combined with fresh tropical fruits and vegetables organically grown in our own gardens. Cooking style is Fijian, featuring traditional South Pacific recipes using all local ingredients, herbs and spices. However individual dietary requirements, such as vegetarian or no seafood meals are catered for. All meals, morning and afternoon teas, and beverages (including wines and other alcoholic drinks) are complimentary. Meals can be taken in the Pavilion, on the beach, in your room or at any other romantic spot on the island you wish. Meal times are flexible. Nukubati has an extensive wine cellar stocking premium Australian and New Zealand wines.

Activities
Scuba diving on the Great Sea Reef, snorkelling, fishing, sailing , surfing, tennis, hiking, environmental sustainability tour, pearl farm visit and a variety of Fijian cultural experiences (tatavu, meke, village and school visits, coconut story, medicine walk, crab catching, traditional spear fishing, cooking lessons)

Best time to travel
Its mild tropical climate means that Fiji can be enjoyed all year round, but perhaps the best is the dry season or “Fiji winter”, from May to October. This time of year has cooler temperatures, less rainfall and humidity, and less risk of tropical cyclones.

Getting there
Although remote, Nukubati Island is easily accessible. Fiji's international airport at Nadi is serviced by many international airlines, with flights from North America, Europe (via Hong Kong), South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. From Nadi International Airport, it is just a 40 minute domestic flight to Fiji's northern capital town, Labasa, followed by a one hour adventurous drive through coconut plantations, rice fields and Fijian villages to Nukubati's jetty for the five minute boat ride to the island.
