Skjerjehamn

Norway | Europe: Atlantic

The area around Skjerjehamn is an important hub for fishing, trade and industry. The island is located in the municipality of Gulen, about 2 hours drive north from Norway's second largest city of Bergen. There is an airport within easy reach with excellent local connections as well as international flight connections. The surrounding area is characterized by unspoiled coastal landscapes with idyllic bays and numerous islands, a true Eldorado for sailing enthusiasts. The seasons can be experienced intensively here - in summer the days are warm and the sea calm, while winter offers frosty temperatures and stormy seas. Since the island can be inhabited all year round, the new owner can warm themselves by the fireplace in the beautiful, typically Scandinavian houses on rainy days.

In terms of area, the island covers 51.6 ha, of which only 0.1 ha belongs to another owner who has built a small vacation home on the south-west tip of the island and uses this only in the summer for a few weeks. The remaining 51.5 ha with a main house, two boat or guest houses and several sheds belong to the property offered here.

There are power lines to the mainland. Heating is electric as well as by a fireplace in the main house. Some rooms also have underfloor heating. Waste water is controlled by a septic tank and fresh water is generated by a sand filter. The annual cost is about 31 000 NOK (municipal fees, insurance, as well as an estimate of running costs).

A jetty with sufficient depth offers the possibility for several boats to dock at the island at the same time. Island visitors are greeted by two charming, well-maintained, bright yellow houses. Both are two-storey and can be used in various ways, either as guest houses or boathouses. The view of the mooring and the open sea is unique. A narrow path leads to the main house, which is white with yellow window surrounds. A living room, kitchen and two bathrooms can be found on the lower floor. The upper floor offers accommodation for several people with 5 rooms that could be used as bedrooms. In addition, there are several smaller sheds on the island for storing wood or tools, for example.
