Big Glode Island is a private island in Nova Scotia, Canada’s famous Atlantic province. Surrounded by an array of picturesque islands and islets, Big Glode is located within Ponhook Lake, a lake that is as popular among tourists as amongst Nova Scotia’s native residents. Famous for its interesting coastal landscapes and the vivid colours of Indian Summer, Ponhook promises tranquillity without losing touch with civilisation. The small town of Molega can be found along a series of country roads, only half a kilometre from the island itself. Bridgewater, the largest town in the South Shore region, can also be reached within 35 minutes and offers excellent shopping facilities.

Extending from the north-west to the south-east, Big Glode Island runs parallel to the Ponhook Rim Peninsula. Covered by dense mixed forest and only a short trip via boat from the mainland, the island offers many possibilities, with a leisure facility perhaps the most obvious choice. Surrounded by pure Canadian nature and with the warm waters of Lake Ponhook providing a constant temptation, there’s plenty of fun to be had here. With water temperatures climbing as high as 27° C the island is suited for all kinds of water sports, from kayaking to wake-boarding.
