Private Island in Door County - the Cape Cod of the Midwest

Located just 9 miles off the western shores of Door County sits Green Island, the largest privately owned island in the waters of Green Bay. Its central location makes for easy boating access from Marinette, Green Bay, Sturgeon Bay and the entire Door County peninsula. While the rougher Lake Michigan waters draw thousands of boaters each season, the Green Bay waters surrounding Green Island provide calmer seas and warmer temperatures.

Majestic Door County often referred to as the Cape Cod of the Midwest, lies nestled between the waters of Green Bay and Lake Michigan. Its Door County's recognition and Green Island's close proximity to it that will help make a proposed development a huge success.

Door County provides the ultimate seaside escape and vacation destination in the heart of the Midwest. It has a year-round population of 28,000 and attracts over 2 million visitors between May and October. Visitor spending in Door County continues to increase yearly, having provided an economic impact of over $380,000,000 in 2013.

The 20 plus marinas within striking distance of the island coupled with the proposed ferry system operating out of both Sturgeon Bay and Marinette would provide island accessibility to boaters and non-boaters alike.

This conceptual plan for Green Island will provide each visitor with his or her own avenue for escape. Whether it be the 10 year old with a passion for sailing, the 30 year old looking for the perfect wedding destination, or the 75 year old looking for a little R&R while sipping on a glass of wine blended from the island's own vineyard, Green Island has it all.

The owner has a vision of the island being enjoyed by many. Even though the owner’s goal would be to sell the island to a developer with a common vison, the owner would not be opposed to selling it to a buyer for a private sanctuary.
