Turtle Island is quite a celebrity in its own right, having been used as a backdrop for the Hollywood movie The Blue Lagoon starring Brooke Shields. It is the realisation of the dream of one man, Richard Evanson, a pioneer of cable television who moved to the South Pacific over 30 years ago. A luxury oasis for couples seeking relaxation in exclusive and romantic surroundings and that special South Sea island flair we all dream of: swaying palms, pleasant breezes, white sandy beaches and turquoise waters provide the perfect setting for romance. A maximum of 28 guests – couples only – enjoy the very personal service of the friendly hosts, who are available around the clock and eager to fulfill your every wish. Turtle Island is a wonderful haven for honeymooners, and in fact was featured on NBC’s Today Show as the perfect honeymoon location. You could also get married on this special island – your wedding will be an unforgettable experience.

The resort on the island has been named as one of the 300 best hotels in the world and consists of 14 Polynesian-style, beachfront bures (pronounced boo-rays, meaning houses) each for two, with queen- or king-size four-poster beds, a sitting room, two baths, all amenities and well-stocked refrigerators.

Dining
Tropical and seafood-based meals are served in a romantic atmosphere in the island restaurants and drinks are also available in the exquisite bar. Room service is also available along with seaside moonlit dinners, mountaintop cocktail parties, or an intimate meal by lantern light on a private beach.

Activities & daytrips
Twelve beaches (one for each couple) for sun baths and swimming, various water sports, a marina with more than 30 boats available to guests ranging from canoes to sailing yachts, deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, horse riding and excursions to neighbouring islands are all included in the price.

Getting there
Fly to Nadi airport where Turtle Island has an office and staff waiting to assist you. The island is a further 30 minutes away by charter flight.

Best time to travel
Its mild tropical climate means that Fiji can be enjoyed all year round and it is a popular escape from the winters in both the northern and southern hemispheres. Perhaps the best time to go, however, is in the dry season or “Fiji winter”, from May to October. This time of year has cooler temperatures, less rainfall and humidity, and less risk of tropical cyclones.
