The castle is located in the rolling countryside west of Stralsund,12 km from Stralsund city center which is 15 minutes by car. This convenient location makes a sought-after spot, and its proximity to the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park, the island of Rügen and the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula offers a great touristic potential.
The castle was built at the beginning of the 19th century as the center of a large estate. It showcases the neoclassical style fashionable at that time. The entrance portal with its impressive columns was added at the beginning of the 20th century. The building was restored from 1996 through 1998 following methods in accordance with the preservation of historical monuments, making it habitable again. The castle now comprises 12 apartments and a representational vacation home. The apartments could be turned into condominiums.
The vacation home in the central block reflects the old room layout with vestibule and garden salon. The old doors were preserved, new hardwood floors were installed in the salon and new black and white marble tiles in the vestibule. The upper floor includes the dining room and kitchen with adjoining balcony as well as three bedrooms and two marble baths.
Moreover, the castle includes a newly established park of approx. 4.45 acres with a considerable mature tree population. In the park is an old storehouse (approx. 4,305 sq ft) that was partially turned into a garage. A building permit for other areas in the park is available.
