Chile

The country of Chile is located in the southwest of South America and is bordered to the south and west by the Pacific Ocean. Other borders are formed Peru, Bolivia and by Argentina. Chile stretches over 4,300 km in a north-south direction along the Andes and the Pacific Ocean. The Chilean Andes are one of the highest mountain ranges in the world and feature a number of peaks over 6,000 m. Chile is a destination as many facets as it has mountainous peaks. Take your pick from national parks, high mountains, glaciers and deserts, ski resorts and beach resorts and choose between the vibrant cities or the isolated areas of the south, rich with incredible islands, such as Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego.

Peru

Peru is located slightly south of the equator and as the third largest country in South America; it is about 3.5 times the size of Germany. The country is host to extreme landscape and climatic differences. On the Pacific coast there is little rain. There is even an extended desert region right at the ocean. However 50-100 km inland, the great Andes mountain range stretches majestically parallel to the coast of Peru. With mountains and glaciers far beyond the 5,000 m (Peru's highest mountain is the Huascaran at 6,768 m), they form a stunning contrast.
