Private island with a charming lighthouse and a spectacular 360° view towards the Acadia National Park

Blue Hill Bay Lighthouse on Green Island is a historic landmark with commanding views in all directions from Isle Au Haut to the mountains of Acadia on Mount Desert Island. Imagine sitting on the porch of the keeper’s house watching schooners come within yards of your porch. Sitting on this outer island is like having your own private window to the world with views in all directions.

The Blue Hill Bay Lighthouse is known by yacht enthusiast as “The Blue Hill Light Station” and stands watch at the head of Blue Hill Bay, off Eggemoggin Reach and the Atlantic Ocean. For over 160 years this beacon has lighted the way for working boats and yachts alike.

The main house has eight rooms, including four bedrooms, solar electric, wood stove, a full kitchen with a gas cook-stove and a great view to the nearby islands, towards the Acadia National Park and the distant bold Atlantic. A long sandy beach and well-cared-for-grounds with custom stone wall accents, boat house and a fuel storage house complete this island retreat. When the tide goes out, the island has a couple of acres of sandbars.

Bangor and its International Airport is within an hour`s drive, an additional air service is available at the Bar Harbor Airport in Trenton, 30 minutes away. Portland is 139 miles, and Boston is 308 miles away.

Blue Hill Peninsula boasts a rich history of ship building and granite quarries. It has been a destination for generations of summer visitors.
