Location
Slipper Island is located on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula on New Zealand’s North Island.
Accommodation
The Lodge has four double bedrooms with an en suite bath in the master bedroom, two additional bathrooms, large living and dining areas, open fireplace, kitchen, laundry facilities, and it is surrounded by decks offering panoramic views of the Coromandel. Accommodation is available for up to 12 guests in the lodge, and 5 separate chalets are also available.
Dining
Meals are provided in a country-style manner. The area provides an abundance of seafood, such as crayfish, scallops, fish and mussels.
Produce from the island’s own farming operation, including organically grown fruits and vegetables, complements the delicious selection of meals served with New Zealand's finest wines. Guests may choose self-catering: kitchen facilities are available, as well as an outdoor barbecue area for grilling freshly-caught fish.
Activities & daytrips
Various water sports, deep-sea fishing, game fishing, rock-fishing, clay pigeon shooting, wreck diving with a diving instructor, abseiling, island walks, day trips to nearby islands for golf, shopping or sightseeing, and scenic flights with the island helicopter.
Best time to travel
New Zealand can be enjoyed all the year round. The warmer months (November to April) are busiest. If you are travelling during peak periods (especially the Christmas season), it is best to book ahead, as accommodation and transport may be fully booked.
Getting there
Fly to Auckland. Transfer by boat to Slipper from Tairua/Pauanai, or only 30 minutes from Auckland by helicopter or light aircraft. The island has its own airstrip.
