Owned by the same family since the 17th century, this small historic estate on the island of Kefalonia, Greece, offers an elegant manor house for rent to discerning travelers. The estate turned eco-retreat takes its guests back in time. It blends the ongoing agricultural activity with regional tradition and culture, while combining the authenticity of the past with the art of good living.
The painstakingly restored estate consists of the 19th-century stone olive mill and its old oil press room, Villa Kefalonia, an elegant manor-style house and the lovely old cottage surrounded by an orchard of biologically grown fruit trees. Villa Kefalonia with its 50-sqm swimming pool is rented all summer to visitors seeking an exclusive holiday retreat and to adherents of barefoot chic.
Special care is taken in order to preserve the natural surroundings. The area around the olive mill has been planted with indigenous trees, flower bushes and shrubs of the Greek flora. These, together with the existing ancestral olive trees and Italian cypresses, form a pleasant Mediterranean landscape.
The present owners, with an obsession for detail, have turned this idyllic spot into a refined holiday retreat, for visitors who are seeking a hideaway full of romance, calm, unspoilt natural surroundings as well as elegant and relaxed accommodation.
